Summer Time Fun

Confession time. Remember how I altered the 5 mintues a day bread dough recipe to be healthier? Well, ahem, if you are looking for retaining wall bricks, here is your opportunity. The bread didn't rise at all, and hubby thought that I should bake some more of them so he could use them outside. Real funny.
That dough did, however, work well for another batch of naan. These weren't as light a fluffy as the first ones, but they tasted good! I made a vegetable curry and rice to go with them. It worked really well for a hot night's dinner.

In the Pacific NW - there is usually not a very long window of really good summer weather. A couple of them, spaced out over the summer with colder, wet weather between the hot weather. Actually, that is the best of both worlds for us - nice and hot, then a reprieve - time enough to look forward to the next heat! Right now we are in a heat and lovin' it. After living 17 years in CA, I forgot that summers can actually be enjoyable! Sorry for the analogy, but I always dreaded summer coming in CA. Kind of like going into labor - you know it is coming, you know it is going to hurt and you know that there is nothing that you can do about it. At least with labor, you have prize at the end of it!

Big brothers are pretty awesome!

This river is a 5 minute drive from our house. Yes, we are lucky!

The fav spot. Not mine!

IBoy and a bud showing off.

We went to the big city - Vancouver - they had a city sanctioned "cruise the gut" night. The city sure didn't sanction them when we were in high school! Chicka couldn't stop admiring the "purkle" car. The owners happened to see her and invited her t0 sit in it. Then they showed her how to honk the horn. Great. See woody in the background to the right? Now THAT is my style of car!

Great pics!

I made some homemade rolls for Thanksgiving one time and didn't really follow the directions. My in-laws thought it was nice that I brought white hockey pucks to the meal! LOL!
